How to Put and Retrieve a Call on Hold

Note: The instructions below apply to NEC DT800 IP Phones and NEC DT400 Digital Phones on the NEC SV9100 telephone system with InMail as well as NEC DT700 IP Phones and NEC DT300 Digital Phones on the NEC SV8100 Phone System.

How to Put a Call on Hold

While on the line with the outside caller…

    1. Press the Hold button once.
    2. The held line will start blinking.
    3. You are free to hang up the handset.

How to Put a Call on Exclusive Hold

Note: Only the phone that placed the call on exclusive hold can retrieve the call.

While on the line with the outside caller…

    1. Press the Hold button twice.
    2. The held line will start blinking.
    3. You are free to hang up the handset.

How to Retrieve a Call on Hold

While the LED is flashing on the held line

    1. Pick up the handset or press the Speaker button.
    2. Press the held line.
Note: If the held call goes unanswered after a pre-programmed time, the automatic recall feature is initiated. A rapid flash and ring burst occurs on the phone that placed the call on hold.
